About Java's Cafe Java's was born in 1992 when we first opened our doors at 16 Gibbs St. From the beginning, our idea was simple - serve the best coffees and teas, and create an awesome place to relax, converse, or find inspiration. We've reapplied this philosophy to each location we've opened since, and believe that you'd have a hard time finding a more exceptional cafe experience anywhere else! The amazing stuff we serve is the heart of our business, and we've worked very hard to make sure that the ingredients we use in our drinks and food are top-notch: Coffee - We roast our coffee in a turn-of-the-century style direct flame roaster. We source beans from the best of the best coffee estates that our master roaster, Java Joe, has come across in his 30+ years of roasting. We support farmers - not middlemen - by buying single-estate beans and carrying many Fair-Trade certified varieties. We support environmentally-sound growing practices by carrying over a dozen varieties of organic beans. Tea - Instead of generic teas out of a box, we've tirelessly selected loose-leaf, garden-direct teas that are simply the finest the planet has to offer. We offer many varieties by the cup, and sell more than 70 rare teas by the ounce, in varieties Black, Green, White, Oolong, Pu-Erh and Herbal. Milk - An afterthought? Nope. Milk is at the heart of many of our specialty drinks, and we hold its quality in high regard. We exclusively use hormone-free, slow-pasteurized milk from Pittsford Farms Dairy. Pastries - When you bake and sell over 5,000 pastries per week, you understand what it takes to make 'em the best. At our Bakeshop, we make everything from scratch, right down to the graham cracker crust. And from cookies to scones, nothing we make contains artificial ingredients. Sandwiches - When we started serving sandwiches and salads for lunch, we decided right off the bat: nothing artificial, no junk. We make every sandwich we serve on fresh bread, every morning, using only premium meats, cheeses and produce. Etc. - Mixes or powders? We don't use any. When tasting a Java's Lemonade, Organic Iced Tea, or Kashmiri Chai, you'll understand why hand-squeezed lemons, fresh-brewed tea, and handcrafted chai steeped to order make our drinks the best. And we've got free wi-fi too...
