Denmark
Danish people don’t fit the stereotype of dour, depressed Scandinavians. On the whole, they’re a friendly, funny lot, and Denmark was recently rated the happiest place on earth. Young folks will especially enjoy the original Legoland in Billund, while adults may prefer the extraordinary Designmuseum Danmark in Copenhagen. Kronborg Slot in Helsing├©r served as the setting for Hamlet.
Sm├©rrebr├©d, open-face sandwiches often made with rye bread, are tasty and popular. Also try kogt torsk (poached cod) with mustard sauce. Danes have a great appreciation for jello with whipped cream, and the Danish term (r├©dgr├©d med fl├©de) is infamously hard for foreigners to pronounce.
Places like Arhus, Copenhagen, Odense, Aalborg have plenty of natural foods markets. You can also find organic German, Asian, Indian, or Italian cuisines, and some juice bars, raw food establishments, macrobiotic eateries, and vegan versions of Danish dishes.
