Top 3 Organic Restaurants in Bristol

Considering Bristol was named runner up for the European Green Capital Award in 2014, it’s no surprise that this city in South West England has plenty on offer. Want a tasty Full English Breakfast? No problem. Or how about a romantic (organic) dinner? Bristol has you covered. These are the top 3 organic restaurants in Bristol that will definitely leave your taste buds tingling.

River Cottage Canteen

The word ‘canteen’ only captures one side of Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall’s establishment. With its relaxed and welcoming vibe you’ll also get some beautiful food that has the TV chef’s signature all over it. It’s anything but your average canteen grub.

Situated in Bristol’s trendy and upmarket Clifton neighborhood, you’ll no doubt find a mixed population of well-to-do students as well as middle class organic foodies. The choice of building is a converted church hall, with the restaurant combining the best of modern and historic.

If you know Fearnley-Whittingstall, then you’ll be familiar with his philosophy of using organic local produce in mostly everything he prepares. His restaurants follow this very closely, with the River Cottage Canteen sourcing 90% of its ingredients from local producers (within 50 miles of Bristol).

In terms of prices, you may be surprised to read that it’s quite reasonable. They often do promotions, such as 2 courses for £12.50 during lunch, as well as a dinner menu of 3 courses for £21 every Wednesday. Considering how much effort has been put into using the best ingredients, it’s a bargain!

Every single dish that’s on the menu gives off that organic goodness in every mouthful, and we’re big fans of the chef’s growing brand. With three canteens already in existence (the others Axminster and Plymouth), we wouldn’t be surprised to see many more opening in the future.

Bristol-UK-MaitreyaSocial

Maitreya Social

This organic restaurant in Bristol is one of the top vegetarian restaurants in England, consistently receiving favorable reviews from online publications and newspapers. It also won a Certificate of Excellence from Tripadvisor in 2013. There’s an argument to be made that Maitreya Social is the top restaurant in Bristol, bar none.

The menu on offer is top notch and we’re sure that you’ll enjoy each and every dish. You can tell that a lot of thought has been put into each recipe and that the ingredients have been sourced from local and (mostly) organic produce. We’re particularly fond of their Cauliflower, Coconut & Tamarind Laksa. Make sure you give it a go when you are next in town; it’s absolutely delicious!

Bristol-UK-BostonTeaParty

Boston Tea Party

Ever since the first Boston Tea Party opened on Bristol’s Park Street, the brand has enjoyed incredible popularity. It now has as many as 14 cafes, each providing gorgeous food at surprisingly affordable prices.

The owners make sure that most of the ingredients used are organic, fair trade, and from local traders. You can really tell the difference in quality, even if you go for the most bog standard option on the menu.

In addition the serving beautiful food, Boston Tea Party also runs a range of events. Comedy nights, art exhibitions, Jazz, and poetry; it’s all happened within their walls. We’re sure you won’t be surprised by our strong recommendation of a visit to this establishment.
