Can You Replace Junk Food?

What Are Healthy Snacks To Replace Junk Food

We all love something sweet from time to time, but many kinds of sugary junk food can have lasting detrimental effects on our health, even if they’re not consumed that often. That’s why it’s a good idea to opt for healthier snacks, including organic vegetables! At Organic Restaurants we know just how flavorful and versatile many types of produce can be, and we know that they can make for great snacks that are fully capable of replacing the junk food in your diet.

Dried Fruit

If you’re craving candy, dried fruit might be able to scratch that itch. Dried fruits like mango, cherries, apples, and pears don’t just taste great. They are also full of nutrients, unlike your favorite candy. Some types of berries are even considered “superfoods” and come packed with antioxidants as well.

Frozen Grapes

Grapes can stay delicious for a while after being frozen and make for another great substitution for candy. Keep some on hand for those times where you get a craving for gummy bears or something else that’s sweet.

Banana Bread

If you like to bake cakes or brownies, banana bread can be just as fun to make. It’s a healthier snack too, full of vitamins, fiber, and nutrients like zinc. You don’t have to sacrifice baked goods entirely if you want to eat healthier.

Dark Chocolate

Simply making the swap from milk or white chocolate to organic dark chocolate can make a difference in your diet. Dark chocolate contains iron, magnesium, zinc, and so many more nutrients and antioxidants. That candy bar you like to sneak after lunch can’t say the same for its nutrient content.

Sweet Potato Fries

Instead of traditional french fries made from potatoes, try out some fries made from sweet potatoes or other veggies. Sweet potato fries can give you that same familiar crunch and texture, but they also come packed with flavor, vitamins, and antioxidants. Zucchini and other vegetables can also be made into delicious fries, so why not try to experiment a bit in the kitchen?

Yogurt

Yogurt is packed with protein and nutrients, unlike the ice cream found nearby in the freezer section. Frozen yogurt also comes in a variety of flavors, so it’s great for satisfying that sweet tooth as well.

Smoothies

We all love a good milkshake, but a smoothie can give you the same kind of experience while offering so much more nutritional value. A healthy smoothie full of protein and vitamins can taste just as delicious as a milkshake if you find the right recipe.

Sparkling Water

A lot of us reach for a bubbly soda during the day for a pick me up, but soda contains a lot of sugar and not much in the way of nutrients. Instead, try replacing some of the soda in your diet with sparkling water. There are many flavors to choose from and you’ll feel more hydrated.
